IEEE Industrial application Society (IA-S) AIUB Student Branch Chapter successfully organized the last tour of the year to Regent Energy & Power Plant at Ghorashal, Narsingdi. It was a two day tour, day one being held on 8^th December, 2016 and day two on 10^th December, 2016. The 108 MW Gas Fired Power Plant has 34 units of GE’s Jenbacher JMS 620 GS-N.L gas engines and produces energy with very small carbon footprint. The power plant is highly efficient and its process of producing energy is one of the cheapest amongst all other plants in Bangladesh.

Arriving at the spot, the participants and the faculty members were welcomed by Mr. Abdullah Al Mahmud General Manger, Following this, a detailed presentation on the Power Plant was given to the participants by Mr. Tarek Sayed, Manager (Operation) & Mr. Md. Abdul Ghani, Manager (Admin & Safety). Later, the participants were divided into two groups and were given an entire tour of the Power Plant. The participants were shown the working principle of the power plant, its working environment and the control room.

Later, on day two, Md. Anis Uz Zaman, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, handed a small token of appreciation to Mr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Mr. Md. Abdul Ghani, & Mr. Tarek Sayed, on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch and thus concluded the tour.

The industrial tour was blessed with the presence of Md, Nazibur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Kazi Ahmed Asif Fuad, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Motivator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
