A seminar was organized by IEEE IAS AIUB Student Branch Chapter along with IEEE PES Bangladesh Section Chapter on “Power Supply Planning: Theory and Practice” on 30^th May 2016 at Room 266, Faculty of Engineering Building, AIUB.

The opening remark was been delivered by honorable Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; encouraging the students to build a strong career path for their near future.

The speakers for the seminar were Dr. Tareq Aziz, Associate professor, Department of EEE, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology & Secretary, IEEE PES Bangladesh Section Chapter; and Mr. Md. Ariful Haque, Managing Director, Reverie Power and Automation Engineering Ltd. The speakers spoke about the urge and the fast advancement of the application of the Renewable sources. They broadly enlightened the processes which included the generation, transmission and distribution sectors. The speakers also illustrated the way electricity reaches every home from the point of generation, describing the role of transmission line, bus bars and substations briefly with the help of practical examples. The major drawbacks of renewable source and the cause of power blackout were also analyzed. At the end, the speakers guided the students about career decision, motivating them for a strong future.

Prof. Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan, Founder, Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section; took the stage later in the event. He urged the participants to be professionally self-dependent. Dr. Abu Hamed Md. Abdur Rahim, Professor, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology; was also graced the seminar with his presence.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain presented the speakers with tokens of appreciation to the respective speakers and guests, on behalf of IEEE IAS AIUB Student Branch Chapter, for their wonderful insights on the subject. A total of 70 AIUB students were present during the event.
