24^th August, 2016 marked the 50^th Year Anniversary of the IEEE Region-10 and in celebration of that, a three day event took place from 25^th to 27^th August, 2016 titled the “IEEE Region-10 Student/Young Professionals/Women in Engineering/Life Members (SYWL) Congress 2016” at The Lalit Ashok Hotel in Bangalore, India, organized by the IEEE Bangalore Section. The Congress was attended by 7 delegates from the IEEE AIUB Student Branch namely, Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Student Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor, IEEE AIUB SB; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering & Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB; Kazi Ahmed Asif Fuad, Motivator, IEEE AIUB SB; Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Md. Jubaear Alam, Chairperson, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Anindo Saha, Vice-Chair, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; MD Shadman Tajwar Haque, Publications Volunteer, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Thasina Tabashum, WIE Volunteer, IEEE AIUB Student Branch and Anisha Mahinoor Ferdous Student, Department of EEE.

During the period of the Congress there were competitions that took place along with a couple of award giving ceremonies, amongst which the delegates from Bangladesh brought home 8 awards. IEEE Region-10 Student Branch Info-graphic Contest was won by Anindo Saha, Vice Chair, IEEE AIUB SB, from IEEE AIUB Student Branch; IEEE Region-10 SYWL Congress Photography Contest, won by Shabab Iqbal, Webmaster, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, from IEEE AIUB Student Branch and also securing the third position in the IEEE Region-10 Student Branch Website contest was IEEE AIUB Student Branch.

Then on 4^th November, 2016, IEEE Bangladesh Section organized the Student/ Young Professional/ Women in Engineering (SYW) Congress 2016, which was hosted by IEEE Student Branch University of Dhaka at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka. The IEEE SYW Congress is the biggest event organized annually by IEEE Bangladesh Section and this year a total of 26 universities participated at this day-long event. The event gave its participants an opportunity to grow their networks and interact with colleagues from other Student Branches.

Like every year, there were several competitions that took place in the congress. The competitions held were Student Activity Poster Presentation Award, IEEE Spectrum Quiz Competition and the Student Activity Poster Quiz Competition. The Student Activity Poster Presentation Award was won by IEEE AIUB Student Branch for the second consecutive time; also securing first place in both IEEE Spectrum Quiz Competition and the Student Activity Poster Quiz Competition was the IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
