On 17^thDecember 2015, IEEE AIUB student branch welcomed the honorable delegates from IEEE Industry Applications Society. The Industry Applications Society recently is celebrating its 50^th anniversary this year. IEEE AIUB Student Branch is proud to have the first ever IAS Chapter in Bangladesh with around 50 members. The delegates who visited AIUB were: Mr.David B. Durocher, IAS President, Dr. Mohammad Islam, Fellow IEEE, IAS Awards Department Chair, Dr. -Ing. Magyar Péter, Fellow IEEE, IAS Chapters and Membership Department Chair.

To start things off, Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; delivered a thoughtful speech. This was followed by kind words of appreciation from Mr. Mahmudul Haque Jishan, Chair, IAS chapter, AIUB & Vice Chairperson, IEEE AIUB student branch who showcased IEEE AIUB student branch and its activities, in front of the distinguished delegates. As it was also the inauguration ceremony of IEEE AIUB SB IAS Chapter, a cake cutting ceremony took place on that occasion by the delegates along with the executive body of IEEE AIUB SB. Dr. -Ing. Magyar Péter, then described and presented all the relevant information on Industry Applications Society including the membership and geographical statistics and how the students can be benefitted from being members of such a chapter. Dr. Mohammad Islam also shared some insights into how it can help them in their future professional lives. Mr. David B. Durocher answered queries from the students in an interactive question answer session. The delegates were then taken on a tour of the laboratory facilities of the engineering department. Ongoing project works were also showcased including projects on electric vehicle and exploration rover.

Mannan.
