IEEE AIUB Student Branch presents Technical Seminar on “Electric Fire Hazard at Industry”


A Technical Seminar named ‘Fire Hazard at Industry’ was organized by IEEE AIUB Student Branch at Room # 266, campus 2 on 26th May 2014 at 3.30 pm. The rationale of the seminar was to introduce the idea of the purpose of hazards and new methods of technologies to prevent it at industries due to erroneous wiring system, by a revered speaker, Dr. Md. Raju Ahmed, Associate Professor EEE department DUET, Gazipur. Prof.Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering being the chief guest presented his speech by thanking the IEEE AIUB Student Branch for organizing such a helpful seminar for the students which has a great demand in engineering world. He highlighted the need of giving more emphasis at safety sector to prevent further dreadful incident and encouraged students to do research work to bring further improvement. Prof. Dr. Md. Raju Ahmed then presented his speech starting with the basic concepts of fire hazards, types of fault, causes of short circuit and insulation break down. Being a specialist on power electronics and power system field, he advised possible solutions of lightning, potential effects, corrosion and moisture. He showed his expertise by discussing simplest methods of prevention of damages which causes hazard and excellent methods of finding damages by X-ray and thermography. The event ended with question-answer session and thanks giving ceremony. The foremost Presenter Prof. Md. Raju Ahmed was handed over a crest as a symbol of gratitude by Prof. Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering along with Mr. Farhadur Arifin, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering & Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch and Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Associate Professor & Head (Undergraduate Program),Faculty of Engineering. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Chowdhry Akram Hossain, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering; Mentor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch& Special Asst., OSA, Mr. Md.
