IEEE AIUB STUDENT BRANCH ORGANIZED “IEEE MEMBERS’ ORIENTATION 2020”

On 16th February 2020, IEEE AIUB Student Branch organized the IEEE Members’ Orientation 2020 at American International University - Bangladesh. The goals of the event were to introduce and welcome new members of the current year as well as to acknowledge the invaluable hard works and commitments put in by the faculty members and students who fulfilled the role of the governing body in the previous year. In the year 2020, IEEE AIUB Student Branch started its journey with over 350 members, officially registered under the student branch.

The grand event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique HossainAdvisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; who initiated his session with the decades-old history of IEEE and educated the audience with the main mission and vision of IEEE. He inspired other engineering departments to contribute to the organization. Furthermore, he acknowledged the increasing number of members in the IEEE AIUB Student Branch and the IEEE Bangladesh Section. Finally, he concluded the session by inspiring members to publish their works and educate themselves through IEEE’s vast digital libraries, conferences, and publications. He also thanked the previous executive committee for their overwhelming endeavors, dedication, commitment and support towards the branch. The first session of the event was conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Vice-Chair(Activity), IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. He took the stage and demonstrated the key features of a leader through means of a video. He inspired the future leaders to take the opportunities provided by IEEE to increase practical skills that may attract the employers. He described the significance of IEEE’s international conferences and how they help in both educational and corporate fields. Afterward, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman was provided with a token of gratitude by Dr. Mohammad Hasan ImamCounselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Advisor, IEEE AIUB SB EMBS Chapter; Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUBKawshik Shikder, Motivator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Tasnuva Tasneem, Motivator & WIE Coordinator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. Shortly after, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur RahmanChowdhury Akram HossainFormer Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student BranchSenior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Md. Saniat Rahman ZishanAdvisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Associate Professor and Head, CoE Department, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB took the stage and welcomed all the members as well as announced the CounselorAdvisors and the new Executive Board of IEEE AIUB Student Branch for the year 2020. They also provided tokens of appreciation to the Branch Executives of the previous year. Afterward, tokens of gratitude were provided to Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul MannanAdvisor, IEEE AIUB SB IAS Chapter; Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUBDr. Mohammad Nasir UddinAssociate Professor & Head, Postgraduate Program, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Chowdhury Akram Hossain and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan for their everlasting contribution to the student branch. Multiple musical & dance performances were conducted by the performers of AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC). Throughout the event, some informative and inspirational videos were displayed showing the activity, benefits, achievements, and history of the branch.

Later, Dr. Mohammad. Hasan Imam took the stage for presenting souvenirs to the Executives of the IEEE AIUB Student Branch for their enormous effort, dedication, and commitment towards the branch. He also presented a token of gratitude to Tajul IslamPresident, APAC for making the Orientation Program grand and joyous. Finally, the closing speech of the event was delivered by Dr. Mohammad. Hasan Imam where he elaborately discussed the upcoming events of IEEE AIUB Student Branch. A group photo session was carried out which marked the end of the event.
