IEEE AIUB Student Branch Organized a Seminar titled ‘ROAD TO SWEDEN’

On 4th February 2020, IEEE AIUB Student Branch successfully organized a seminar titled ‘ROAD TO SWEDEN’ in collaboration with Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. The seminar was successfully conducted by Mr. Mahir Mahdee, Postgraduate Student, Renewable Electricity Production, Uppsala University, Sweden; Former Facility Management Engineer and HR Executive, Compagnie Mauricienne de Textile Ltee. The seminar was inaugurated by the opening remarks from Prof. Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch who talked about the importance of higher studies in a student’s life for enriching professional career. He also gave the participants a brief idea about the education system and lifestyle in Sweden. He concluded his speech by urging the students to be more proactive.

After that, the speaker Mr. Mahir Mahdee took the stage and initiated the session by giving a short introduction about his educational and professional career. Then he talked about the reasons of Sweden being the ideal place for higher studies along with the wide range of job opportunities it provides. Subsequently, he gave an elaborate overview of Uppsala University, Sweden including its offered programs, application procedure and admission requirement for higher studies, impressive scholarship opportunities and fees structures. Afterwards, he talked about various research scopes that Uppsala University provides annually with healthy funding opportunities and support. He concluded with an interactive Question-Answer session.

After that, Ms. Tasnuva Tasneem, Motivator, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Coordinator, IEEE Women in Engineering, AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB delivered the concluding speech where she discussed about the importance of pursuing higher studies and suggested the participants to develop their practical knowledge and skills which will help them to be successful in this competitive world. Later, Ms. Tasnuva Tasneem presented a token of appreciation to the speaker Mr. Mahir Mahdee. A group photo session was carried out which marked the end of the seminar.
