The 2nd International Conference on Computing Advancements - ICCA 2022 "Age of Computing and Augmented Life" (https://icca.aiub.edu) with cooperation of ACM and SIGAPP (Special Interest Group on Applied Computing) ended successfully on Saturday, 12th of March 2022 at the permanent campus of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized by the Department of Computer Science. It was a three day long International Conference which started on March 10, 2022, where researchers, academicians and students from different corners of the world joined virtually and shared their research insights. The keynote sessions and the parallel paper presentations were conducted virtually via Zoom platform.
The goal of ICCA 2022 conference is to bring together the convergence between academicians and industry researchers from different domains of computer science and to focus on the tremendous progress of research works. ICCA 2022 was successful in receiving massive response from countries around the globe such as USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Malaysia and many more, which highlighted the acceptance and reliability of the conference. The conference accepted research papers on different fields of Computer Science, such as, Algorithm and Computation, Software Engineering, Big Data, Communication, Computing, Cryptography, Security and Privacy, Human Computer Interaction, Intelligent Systems, Machine Vision, Smart Computing Systems, Software Engineering and Technology Trends. A total number of 250 papers were submitted and among which 86 papers were accepted for the conference. All the accepted, registered and presented papers will be submitted to ACM Digital Library for publication.

There was also one ACM distinguished lecture session conducted by Prof. Dr. Sohel Rahman, Professor, BUET, ACM Distinguished Speaker, Senior Member, IEEE.
Students, faculties, researchers from different corners of the world joined the sessions and at the end of every session lively and insightful question-and-answer sessions were held. The Parallel Paper presentation included presentation of the accepted papers, where Chairs, co-chairs evaluated the presentation by question-and-answer session and distributed certificates among the participants.
There was an Industry Panel Discussion on the 3rd day of the conference on Saturday, March 12, 2022, where Mr. Fahim Mashroor (Co-founder of Bdjobs.com/AjkerDeal), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan (Managing Director of Divine IT limited), Mr. Raisul Kabir (CEO of Brain station 23) and Mr. Raquibul Hasan, Principal Engineer / Group Leader, Wearable eXperience Group, Samsung Research, and Development Institute Bangladesh (SRBD) were the panelists. The topic of the panel discussion was “Stepping into the metaverse, the impacts and possibilities.” The representatives of the leading software companies mentioned that they find the graduates of AIUB to be the most promising and hard-working ones.
The Chief guest of the closing ceremony was Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, a technology entrepreneur and the current Minister of Post and Telecommunication in the Government of Bangladesh. Mr. Mustafa Jabbar really appreciated the fact that AIUB has 30 dedicated computer laboratories along with specialized AR & VR Labs. In addition, the Minister encouraged the young leaders for tomorrow towards research and the universities to standardize their curriculum to shape up the students to meet industry demand. The Special guests of the closing ceremony was Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, also Additional Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh at ICT Division and Dr. Celia Shahnaz who is the Chair-Elect of IEEE and a Professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology. Both the guests engaged the audience with their mesmerizing speech. Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh shared that the Government’s objective after “Digital Bangladesh” is to make “Smart Bangladesh” by 2041 and presented various government initiatives towards it. The recognition of the prosperous future of the Economy was discussed as well and the plan to build about 145 Hi-tech parks by the end of the year 2028. The second Special guest, Dr. Celia Shahnaz, an idol of every woman, delivered a very encouraging speech focusing on the country’s assets that can be utilized enormously. She illustrated that the students and researchers are the best capable assets of the country who can bring success and recognition of the country. She also added that instead of looking for a new problem to solve, we should look around ourselves to figure out the problems that we are facing on a regular basis. The overall closing ceremony was presided over by the chairman of the Board of Trustees of American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB), Dr. Hasanul A Hasan. Throughout the ceremony, the speakers remembered the contribution of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina towards the development of the country’s economy and state.
The ceremony ended with the distribution plagues of appreciation to the contributors and sponsors of the conference. During the closing ceremony, the Associate Dean and Director of the Faculty of Science and Technology of AIUB, Mashiour Rahman and Dr. Dip Nandi thanked everyone who played a role during the conference, the committee, faculties, management, and the volunteers. At the end of the ceremony, a Workshop on “Network Penetration Testing” was conducted by Md. Manirul Islam, Director of Institute of Continuing Education, AIUB.
The 2nd International Conference on Computing Advancements – ICCA 2022 finally ended with a promising note to bring about more diversity and quality researches in the ICCA 2024.
