This time the HTM Study Tour has taken its members to the Padma Resort in
Munshiganj. The difference from our other tours this time was that the
students of Tour Operations course were fully involved in its arrangement
and operation. The university covered our biggest expense as usual - the bus
with a driver. The rest was arranged by students themselves. These were:
entertainment programme on the bus, breakfast and lunch in local
restaurants, football match on the resort's sandy beach and finally the
speed boat rides on the majestic Padma that made us forget about the
scorching sun above us.
Padma resort is built on a silt island on a canal that flows from the main
Padma River. The location is very pleasing because it is away from the busy
urban area and only 5 km away from the main river. The resort has 16
cottages and is fully booked for several weekends ahead. It is popular among
visitors during two seasons: winter time picnics and a romantic rainy season
when all cottages are covered by water until floor level.
We have learnt that Padma river beach at places can be as beautiful as Cox's
bazaar but it lacks tourist infrastructure. You can have a short drive from
Dhaka on Friday evenings to stroll on the beach and enjoy the sea-like view
with a beautiful sunset in the horizon. Enjoy our pictures and ask HTM
students if you need any more practical information about the place.
We thank our beloved university for giving us the opportunity to arrange our
educational tours that will remain as lifetime experiences and memories for
the students.
