How to Become a Professional Accountant?

American International University – Bangladesh envisions promoting professionals and excellent leadership catering to the technological progress and development needs of the country. In line with this, the graduating students doing major in Accounting and Finance want to know ‘what next’ to become a leader in the business community. A professional accountant always plays the role of a leader in the business community. Considering this fact, a seminar  was organized by the Department of Accounting of AIUB on 13th February, 2012 to inform the students about ‘How to become a professional accountant? – in home and abroad’.  The seminar was conducted by Dr. Ainul Islam, a full time faculty member of Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) in AIUB Auditorium. The 1st part of the seminar  was about the MPA (Master of Professional Accountant) program offered by VUW, New Zealand. He presented the route of becoming a professional accountant in such a fashion so that the participants could understand who are a professional, why  accounting is a profession? what attributes require in accounting profession? the path to NZICA (New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants), and finally the MPA program offered by VUW, New Zealand. The session was interactive in nature to allow students to interact or raise questions while discussion or presentation is going on. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, addressed the participants with encouraging words and also presented a certificate  of appreciation to the guest speaker. A gift pack as token  of appreciation was also handed over to the guest by Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director, BBA Program. Dr. Dulal Miah, Head, Department of Finance and Mr. Zakaria Masud, Head, Department of Accounting were also present on that occasion along with the faculty members.
