The prize giving ceremony of the 1^st ever Bangabandhu Inter University Sports Champs 2019, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh was held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 4 pm in Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.

A total of around 2665 participants from 65 universities (both public and private) of Bangladesh participated in the month long Inter University tournament where a total of 10 sports events were competed. The events were Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Swimming, Handball and Cycling.

AIUB Cricket Team became the Champion in the Cricket Tournament by defeating Daffodil International University (DIU) by 115 runs in DIU ground in Savar.

Sheikh Hasina, the honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh was the chief guest in the Prize giving ceremony on April 27 and gave the prizes among the players. Mr. Md. Zahid Ahsan Rasel, the honorable State Minister for Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh was also present.

The honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna along with our honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees of AIUB, Ms. Nadia Anwar were present at the stadium and received the Cricket Champion Trophy from the Prime Minister along with Mr. A.K. Nazmul, Manager, AIUB Cricket Team and Deputy Director of Sports, AIUB, Kh. Sabbir Kabir, Director, Finance, AIUB and National Cricketer of Bangladesh and AIUB Cricket Team Captain Mr. Abu Haider Rony.

Dr. Mohammad Zafor Uddin, the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh presided the prize giving ceremony.
