Her Excellency Panpimon Suwannapongse, Honorable Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh visited AIUB on Thursday, 1 March 2018. She was greeted by Dr. Carmen Z Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of AIUB at 10 AM. Later, accompanied by the Vice Chancellor, honorable Ambassador inaugurated the newly built Buddhist Prayer Room at the permanent campus. The Royal Thai Embassy has generously donated a statue of Lord Buddha for the Buddhist Prayer Room. Her Excellency Panpimon Suwannapongse personally handed over the statue to Dr. Carmen on the occasion. After the inauguration honorable Ambassador was given a brief tour of the campus by the Vice Chancellor.

 

Along with students of Buddhist religion, Prof. Dr. T Hossain, Vice President, Academics and Dean-in-charge, Faculty of Science and IT, Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Academic and Non-Academic Directors and officials of AIUB were also present on the occasion. Dr. Sanjib Barua, Faculty Member, Department of Architecture was present on behalf of the AIUB Buddhist Community. On behalf of the Royal Thai Embassy the Second Secretary Ms. Kalthira Koompirochana accompanied the Ambassador.
