GUEST LECTURE SESSION OF DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS ON GLOBALIZATION AND BANGLADESH

Department of Economics, FASS, AIUB organized a lecture session for the students of Global Trade course on “Globalization and Bangladesh” at its permanent campus on 27th February, 2018. This was part of a student development initiative.

Dr. Nazneen Ahmed, Senior Research Fellow, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) was the guest lecturer in this session.  She has nearly 20 years’ experiences in conducting research in the areas of International Trade and Regional Trade issues, Value Chain Analysis, General Equilibrium Modelling, Institutional, Industrial, Gender and Labour issues. Dr. Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands, a Master's in Development Economics from The University of Sussex, UK and a Master's and Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Dhaka.

Dr. Ahmed conducted an elaborate lecture session on the topic with an interactive discussion followed by a question answer session. At the end of the session, Professor Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Dr. A.K. Monwar-War Uddin Ahmad, Professor, Department of Economics gave vote of thanks to the guest speaker for her valuable contribution by presenting an AIUB token and a certificate of appreciation. This event was organized and coordinated by Mst Morium Khatun. This was a useful session for the student to revisit the issues on the trade policy and the stylized facts of the trade issues in Bangladesh.
