The International Conference on Automation & Computational Engineering 2018 (ICACE ’18) was held from the 3rd – 4th of October 2018, at the Amity University’s Greater Noida Campus in Uttar Pradesh, India. As the largest student branch and one of the most proactive in the network of IEEE, the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) was invited to not only participate in the event and present a research paper, but to also receive the Amity Global Academic Excellence Awards for honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna. The award is given to selected academicians and administrators of extraordinary eminence, who are driving the notable academic institutions of the world to greater heights through their expert guidance, keen involvement and strategic approach. On behalf of the honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, the Associate Dean for the Faculty of Engineering (FE), Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, and the Senior Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and the Special Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain, attended the conference and accepted the award from the Prof.(Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor of Amity University. They were called on stage and presented with traditional shawls as tokens of appreciation, along with the symbolic crest and certificate for the award.
After the Opening Ceremony, the program commenced with the keynote speakers and sessions. A research paper titled, “The Different Types of Fault Analysis of VLSI Circuits Based on Graphene Nanoribbon FET”, co-authored by Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain, together with Mr. Md. Nabil Al Rafiq, Muntasir Mamum, Syed Ishmam Ahmad, and Mostak Ahmmed, 4 bright and talented students from the Faculty of Engineering at AIUB. The paper was also presented at the conference, by the students Muntasir Mamum and Syed Ishmam Ahmad, entailing their hard-work and perseverance. Following the end of the interactive and enlightening sessions, the final plenary segment opened the floor to all the participating institutions to network and collaborate in the official signing ceremony of the Memorandums of Understandings (MoU). AIUB inked their MoU with Amity University, while discussing potential strategic partnerships with several other institutions that are set to be realized in the near future. The MoU was signed by Prof.(Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities, India and AIUB Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB on behalf of honorable Vice Chancellor,AIUB.
The day was concluded with an amazing gala dinner and breathtaking cultural performance, followed by a celebratory speech by Prof. John Dewar, Vice-Chancellor La Trobe University, Australia and Prof.(Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities, India, expressing his gratitude to the participants, sponsors, and organizers who all made the conference possible. The conference was officially concluded afterwards.
The program enabled people and institutions to engage in an international exchange of ideas, views, and cultures that set the pace for their future ventures to work towards evolving their institutions and the world of education in its entirety. But these are all small steps towards a bigger goal. In improving the means of education and life-long learning in an era of automation and digitization. As the catalysts of organizations that play crucial roles in the evolution of not only our societies, but in the world across borders today, it is efforts such as ICACE that brings together people in pursuing the growth and development even further, with the aim of rebuilding the global future, brighter than our present.
