The Department of Marketing, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a competitive event based on new product idea generation and marketing strategies development entitled “Future Market Planners” on December 3, 2011 (Saturday). The objective of the event was to improve the analytical abilities of the students and to offer an opportunity where they can exercise their knowledge by participating in different creative marketing tasks.
The program was inaugurated at 10:00 am by Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, the honorable Director of BBA Program and Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head of Marketing Department in the ground floor of Campus 5. Under the direct initiatives and co-ordination of Mr. Stanley Rodrick and Mr. Hamidul Islam, Faculties of the Marketing Department; more than 400 students from 10 sections of Marketing Management course participated in the event.
The event was successfully supervised and judged by all the course instructors of Marketing Management; Mr. AKM Kamrul Haque, Mr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, Mr. Mahmud Zaman, Ms. Tahsina Khan, Mr. Hamidul Islam, Mr. Stanley Rodrick and two more respectable faculties from the Department of Marketing; Dr. Md. Ziaul Hoq and Ms. Farzana Choudhury were present to guide and inspire the participants. It was also supported by Walton Bangladesh, Seven Rings Cement Limited, The City Bank Limited and assisted by AIUB Business Club.
It was a day long session divided into 3 different rounds. The first round was Idea Generation including product category selection, proposing a brand name, designing brand/company logo and developing the brand/company slogan. Approximately 98-100 groups including 4 members in each groups participated in the round. The second round was Development of Print Advertisement, where selected 27 groups from first round were asked to develop a print advertisement for their respective product/company. The Third and Final round was Marketing Strategies Development where selected 7 groups had to develop and present their total plan regarding marketing strategies and tactics to commercialize their proposed products to the mass market. After a comprehensive panel judgments 1 Champion group, 2 First Runner Up groups and 1 Second Runner up group were selected as the Winners.
On December 7, 2011 (Wednesday), The Marketing Day 2011; the honorable Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, BBA Program Director Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury and Head of Marketing Department, Mr. Zobair Shibli presented Gift hampers, Trophy, Crests and Certificates to the Champion, Runner Ups, Finalists and the Mentors of that event.
