The freshman student orientation for the Summer 2024-2025 semester at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) was successfully held on Saturday, 12 July 2025, at the AIUB campus. The orientation aimed to welcome and guide new students, who attended sessions in various venues across the campus – AIUB Auditorium, Multipurpose Hall (Building D), Multipurpose Hall (Annex 7) and Meda Studio (Annex 2).
Representing the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), several key faculty members delivered presentations on university policies, academic regulations, and student resources. The speakers included Prof. Dr. Manzur H Khan (Proctor and Professor, Faculty of Science and Technology), Dr. Ziarat H Khan (Deputy Director, Student Affairs and Associate Professor, Faculty of Business Administration), Dr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain (Head, Dept. of Computer Engineering and Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering), Mr. Hamidul Huque (Head, Dept. of English and Sr. Assistant Professor, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), Dr. Faria Sultana (Head, Dept. of Economics and Associate Professor, Faculty of Arts and Social Science), and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Faridul Alam (Director, MBA Program and Professor, Faculty of Business Administration).
The orientation was graced by Mrs. Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman of the AIUB Board of Trustees, who attended as the chief guest. She warmly welcomed the new students and thanked their parents for entrusting AIUB with their children’s higher education. Mrs. Anwar encouraged students to make the most of the university’s extensive resources and facilities. Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, also addressed the students, delivering a special welcome speech.
Additional welcome addresses were given by various distinguished faculty members, including M. Arefeen Ibrahim (Head, Dept. of Architecture), Dr. Rezbin Nahar (BBA Program Director), Prof. Dr. M. A. Mannan (Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Zahidul Islam Khan (Registrar), Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam (Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), Sr. Associate Professor Mashiour Rahman (Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology), Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), and Prof. Dr. Md. As part of the event, members of AIUB’s student clubs set up booths around the campus to introduce freshmen to their activities, offering a glimpse into the vibrant student life AIUB has to offer. AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC) presented a vibrant cultural program for the freshman students and their guardians.
