First Thesis Jury Session of Architecture Department

January 20, 2010, was unlike other Wednesdays for Architecture department at AIUB. The day will always be a remembered as a very memorable day for the department. The long awaited event, Thesis Jury of the first batch of graduating students from the department took place at the jury-space of the department on this day. Program Coordinator, M. Arefeen Ibrahim inaugurated the session briefly stating the realm of the event. Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna made the day even more momentous for architecture department with her warm presence and active participation. She expressed enthusiastic interest on the thesis projects and exchanged her views. Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr. Tafazzal Hossain were also present in the jury session. The jury board comprised of both academicians and professionals. Professor Zakiul Islam from BUET and renowned professionals like Architect Uttam Saha and Architect Saif Ul Haque were present as external jurors. Most of the teachers from architecture participated in this event. Remarks, criticism and guidance of the jurors made the occasion gratifying. The enthusiastic and overwhelming participation of architecture students was a moral support for the graduating students.  The department of architecture expresses gratitude to administration, honorable jurors, faculty members and students for their enthusiastic participation to make the day memorable that led the event to its success.  On this occasion we’d like to share a few words with the very first graduating students of Architecture from AIUB: ‘You are here in order to facilitate the world to breathe more contentedly, with greater dream, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement’.
