Farewell Lunch for Professor Fujita

The Economics Department recently organized a Luncheon in honour of Visiting Professor Dr. Koichi Fujita of Kyoto University, Japan. The occasion was graced by our honourable VC Madam along with the Dean of FASS and all the members of the Economics Department. Professor Fujita is an internationally renowned research fellow, as well as an expert in the field of Development. During his brief tenure as Visiting Professor at AIUB Dr. Fujita taught courses in Development Economics and enlightened those fortunate students who had enrolled for the Summer trimester of 2010. Professor Fujita is no stranger to Bangladesh, and has been here several times since the 1980s when he was involved with JICA. He is also fluent in Bengali. The Economics Department honoured the professor by presenting him with a Plaquard, certificate and traditional gifts from Bangladesh. We are sure that this is not the last we will see of the good professor and sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a long lasting relationship between AIUB and Professor Fujita and Kyoto University where he teaches.
