Faculty of Engineering organized seminar on “Postgraduation Studies in Engineering.”

On July 25, 2023, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB organized a seminar titled "Postgraduation Studies in Engineering." which was supported by AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES). The program started at 5:00 PM with 45 pre-registered participants at Annex 3 (Room No. 3202), AIUB. The purpose of the seminar was to provide an overview of the scope of research facilities in the post-graduations program in AIUB.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A B M Siddique Hossain (Professor, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), where he discussed the benefits of post-graduation program and opportunities of doing this program from AIUB. Following that, the first speaker, Dr. Rinku Basak (Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), began his presentation on “Smart Sensor using Electrical Impedance and Spectroscopy for Plant Phenotyping”, where he discussed about smart EIS and EIT sensors, a low cost and effective tool for rapid and in-situ measurements in plant phenotyping. Lately, another topic “Importance of Two-Dimensional Materials in Engineering Field" presented by Dr. Mohammad Alif Arman (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB). He discussed the importance and properties of 2D material, Graphene, and technical support with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. After that, a session on “Simulation Prospects of Electronic Devices using COMSOL: From Nanowires to Amplifiers” was conducted by Dr. MD. Kabiruzzaman (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB). He emphasized the importance of COMSOL for optimizing models of nanowires, electronic devices and simulation of wave optics, fluid dynamics and thermal properties. The final session was conducted on “Research Opportunities of Composite Materials” by Dr. Md Mahadi Hasan (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB). He explained the composite materials, which exited from nature and the sectors where it was used by replacing aseptic materials with a higher efficiency.

Then, a short Q/A session was held for the participants. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Professor, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) and Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin (Head, Graduate Program, Dept. of EEE, AIUB) concluded the seminar by thanking the speakers.
