Faculty of Engineering Organized a Webinar on "Spintronic Devices For Non-Conventional Computing"

On 27th of November 2021, Faculty of Engineering organized a webinar titled “Spintronic Devices for Non-Conventional Computing” which was supported by AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES). The program began at 7:30 PM with the participation of around 85 students through an online platform Zoom. The purpose of this webinar was to enlighten students about new physics and material properties to construct behavioral and circuit models for visualization of novel devices.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, ACES) commenced the webinar by talking about the invention of MOSFET, VLSI, and Solid-State technologies resulted in a huge revolution in the Electronics industry. He concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the emergence of spintronic technology might be another revolution in the Electronics industry.

Dr. Orchi Hassan (Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology) inaugurated her remarks by emphasizing the emergence of Spintronic Technology and added that over the last 15 years, a lot of research has gone into improving transistors, processors, and computers with nano architecture. She explained that Architecture and Packaging, Computing Models, and Devices and Materials are the three key research directions for Electrical and Computer Engineers. Finally, she concluded her presentation by recommending several significant sources of information for enthusiastic audiences, such as publications, blogs, and papers relevant to the research field of Spintronics. Afterwards, a short Q&A session was held where the speaker answered the queries of the participants. Following that Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, ACES) praised our honorable speaker for simplifying the topic. He thanked the distinguished speaker with a virtual gesture of appreciation for delivering such a great presentation.

The webinar was graced by the presence Dr. Md. Ehasanul Haque (Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), Mr. Mohammad Khurshed Alam (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), and Mr. Mehedi Hasan (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB).
