On Saturday, July 18, 2020 Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and Department of Computer Engineering (CoE) of Faculty of Engineering (FE), AIUB successfully organized and conducted the first virtual progress defense of capstone project groups using the Microsoft Teams platform. The defense program was held in 8 parallel online sessions through different channels in Microsoft Teams platform which started at 11AM and finished at 2 PM. The sessions were coordinated and hosted by 16 faculty members of FE. A total number of 40 Supervisors, External Supervisors and 176 students from a total of 44 capstone project groups (Started at Spring 19-20) have remotely joined in the full virtual platform from different locations of the country where students presented their capstone project progress successfully. After the question answer session supervisors and external supervisors evaluated the attendees using online rubrics. A separate dry / practice session was arranged prior to the event on July 17, 2020 to trial the process and verify the online system.
During this unprecedented time of crisis caused by COVID-19 all the capstone project progress defense groups are highly motivated and confident to complete their capstone project successfully maintaining safety measures.
