The forth and third year students from the theory course “Contemporary Architecture Theory” have visited the newly constructed 15 storied commercial building Rangs Babylonia at Tejgaon Dhaka on November 11, 2017. This trip had the intention to experience contemporary architecture practice in Bangladesh through exploring the formal expression, spatial quality and structural solution of the building. The study trip was conducted by Tabassum Zarin, course instructor of Contemporary Architecture Theory.
The whole journey became more supplemented by the involvement of the teachers of Architecture department. Key person behind the project principal Architect Mustapha Khalid Palash was present there and briefed the whole development. He not only guided the visitors to show the formal expression with architectural concept but also familiarized with building materials and its construction method. Key points were stated as how the electro mechanical services has been solved in the critical points while constructing the building as well. The knowledge of the magnificent structural solution with different scales and proportion will enrich the awareness of the students, that will not only help them go further in studio project but also enhance work involvement in professional field.
The support of Rangs Properties Limited, Architect and AIUB Authority made this tour a successful one. This tour made the faculties and students deeply motivated to see the sights further.
