Architecture Students from first and second year visited the heritage sites of “Mohera Jamidar Bari” in Tangail (the Police Training Center at present), followed by the 19th century Renaissance Colonial structure “Baliati Palace” in Manikganj on 16th February, 2017. The Journey ended with a halt at “Pathrail” in Tangail which is a famous “Tant Polli”. The purpose of this trip was to familiarize the students with the ancient and urban architectural examples through sketch and photography. The study trip was carried out by Farzana Siddiqua, Tabassum Zarin, Tanvir Hasan course instructors of “Design Studio-I” and Md Shahjahan, Fauzia Rahman course instructors from “Design Studio-II”.
Here the students not only got a glimpse of the architectural and cultural history of Bangladesh but also learnt how to make documentation of such topic. Moreover, they discovered the relation between man and nature which eventually will create empathy in them towards preserving our archeological heritages.
The support of AIUB Authority and the teachers made this tour a thriving one. This tour made the faculties and students motivated to travel more to places of significance in future.
