Engineering Student’s Association of Bangladesh” (ESAB) AIUB Unit Face organized a conducive seminar titled “Unfolded Opportunities of Thesis and Research” at Annex 7, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) campus. The main purpose of the seminar was to discuss the important concepts and key objectives of Thesis and Research work and give a clear idea about Thesis and Research papers.
The event started with national anthem. Afterwards, a brief promo video of ESAB was demonstrated to the audience. After that Prof. Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, delivered inaugural speech emphasizing on importance of thesis and research work. He mentioned the impact of thesis paper in higher studies opportunities. Finally, he concluded his speech with importance of thesis paper in job field. Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dean in Charge, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, AIUB, enlightened the seminar with his presence. He briefly talked about importance of research work. Also, he shared his own research experience and achievements to inspire the students.
Dr. Tabin Hasan, Associate Professor and head of graduate program, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, AIUB started the seminar with a concise story explaining why students of this subcontinent are lagging behind in science and research work than the leaders of the world. He explained how to do research and what is philosophy of science. He encouraged students to overcome the fear of making mistakes while pursuing a research work. He gave valuable advice about choosing research topic. Lastly he inspired students to use their own creativity and pursue what they like rather then what is popular and demandable. Later on, Dr. Kamruddin Nur, Associate Professor, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, AIUB, explained the meaning of thesis. He shared his own experience and problems he faced during his Ph.D. He mentioned about the importance of time, resource, and required data during a research work. Subsequently, Dr. A.F.M. Saifuddin Saif, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, AIUB, gave his speech along with an educative multimedia presentation discussing how to choose the right topic, how team work is important and also how to enhance research quality by merging individual merits of team members together. Lastly he advised students to be patient and shared his valuable experience during his Ph.D. His speech concluded with an interactive question and answer session.
Afterwards, Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Professor and Head, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, encouraged students for choosing application based thesis. He also thanked ESAB AIUB Unit Face for organizing such great event. Finally, for the concluding speech, Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, briefly discussed about the importance of presentation and writing skill along with other required skills during thesis and research work. He also praised and thanked Engineering Student’s Association of Bangladesh” (ESAB) AIUB Unit Face for coming up with new ideas and arranging such an event. At the end of the seminar, speakers were given a crest as a token of appreciation by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman.
