Engineering Students’ Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) AIUB Unit Face organized an informative seminar titled “IT Career Talk” at auditorium, FBA Building, AIUB, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm on 13th April, 2016. The seminar started with the national anthem followed by a brief promo video focussing on ESAB's aim, vision and activities.
Dr. Tafazzal Hossain (Professor and Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, Vice President, Academic Affairs, AIUB) provided the inaugural speech by praising ESAB AIUB unit face’s dedication for coming up with new ideas and arranging such an event. His motivational speech encouraged the students much to choose career in IT sector wisely.
Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik (Assistant Professor & Special Assistant OSA, Department of CS, AIUB) started the seminar by enhancing the fact to choose career precisely. He demonstrated the facts where students fail to take decisions to choose career, higher education and job sectors. Participants were advised on how to set goal to achieve success and discussed some easy steps of the baseline of career which included making a strong network, fixing target, dedication to work and many more. Besides, he also suggested them to choose career in their interested sectors. At the end of his speech he played a video which encouraged the students to love their work. Afterwards, Mr. Matinur Rahman (Project Manager, Workspace Infotech) gave an inspiring speech where he mentioned several key points in terms of building career. Those key points comprehend firm determination, difficulties in learning different languages (C, C++, C#, JAVA, PYTHON and PHP etc.). He also gave information about the vast work spaces for CS students in IT sectors. He emphasized students to be expert in one language rather than learning all having little knowledge. His speech immensely affected the students to taste the flavour of leaning. Mr. Tahsinul Alam Sarker (Project Manager, Workspace Infotech) started his session by presenting a multimedia presentation that assembled basic knowledge of Freelancing. Students got to know the importance of outsourcing, problems that amateurs face in this field, opportunities and techniques that included payment methods, keeping a clear profile, being dedicated, process of seeking projects and many more. He highlighted the fact of maintaining a very good relation with the clients and being fair to them. Afterwards, he familiarized his software firm “WSIT” (Workspace Infotech) and shared his experience of his own life which set a very good example to the students to achieve their dreams.
At the end of the event, Dr. Tabin Hasan (Head, Graduate Program, Department of CS, AIUB) delivered an inspirational speech to the participants. He wished them to explore the topics that are still unknown and discover them to increase their knowledge. He thanked all the honourable speakers and handed over souvenirs as a token of appreciation.
