English Writing Club And English Speaking Club Launched.

ENGLISH WRITING CLUB AND ENGLISH SPEAKING CLUB LAUNCHED

The English Department of this university is accelerating its promotion to elevate the quality of English language and at the same time make it more interesting and meaningful to the students. Towards this end, the English Writing Club and the English Speaking Club were launched at the AIUB Auditorium last September 14, 2008 with Mr. Shahnoor Wahid, Editor of the campus-oriented popular magazine ‘Star Campus’ and Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean as the special guests. Both delivered a brief inspirational message to the students and expressed assurance of support to make the project successful. These two separate clubs are under the overall management of the English department with the Coordinator Dr. Faheem Hasan Shahed as the supervisor, and four competent and enthusiastic faculty members as moderators. Under the dynamic supervision of Ms. Rumana Islam & Ms. Fahrima Rinku (moderators of English Speaking Club), and Ms. Syeda Farzana Sultana Hafsa & Mr. Qumrul Hassan Chowdhury (moderators of English Writing Club), the clubs will organize numerous creative and innovative activities that will enhance critical thinking and working abilities of students. While the Writing Club will organize writing skills development seminars, writeshops and competition to enhance the students skills of writing in both literary and technical styles, the Speaking Club will promote the ability of the students to express themselves orally and at the same time gain the needed confidence in talking or speaking in public. During the said launching the coordinators were given the chance to elucidate on the mechanics and various activities of each club. The students had also an opportunity to interact with the faculty advisers on the ways to make the activities viable and successful.
