ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ORGANIZES ENTHRALLING INTER-DEPARTMENT PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST

The department of English, in its continuous effort to foster and nourish effective communicative competence of AIUB students, organized the preliminary round of “English in Action: Inter-department Public Speaking Contest” for Spring semester on 23 March 2014 in the Campus-1 auditorium of AIUB. The four hour long program witnessed the first semester students of all faculties engaging into nail-biting contests among themselves in 4 different categories: Oration, Impromptu Speaking, Manuscript Reading and PowerPoint Presentation. The team of judges comprised the head of the department, Dr. Faheem H. Shahed, along with Ms. Shaila Ahmed, Ms. Jannatul Farhana, Ms. Farhat Tasannum Farah and Ms. Momena Afroze Ahmed. The enthusiasm among the participants was quite conspicuous which was appreciated by the chief adjudicator Dr. Faheem. The judges ultimately had a hard time to select the top performers from each category who would be competing in the Grand Finale soon.   The Grand Finalists are as follows:
