Md. Sazzadul Islam, ID: 10-17446-3, a student of EEE Department managed to secure first prize in the Individual Project category at the muspana Microcontroller Based Electronic Project Competition held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh. The competition was organized by the Dept. of ETE, RUET and IEEE RUET; and this was sponsored by muspana, Filament Engineering Ltd.  
The project entitled “Microcontroller Based Elevator Control System” utilized a cost efficient Microcontroller based elevator control system. The Microcontroller was used as the primary controller to coordinate the functions of the various hardware circuits of the elevator.  There were 23 Projects in the competition submitted by 11 Universities, among them the above mentioned project was selected as a first one in the individual category.
For developing various features of this project with the aim of improving the performance of the system a valuable suggestion was given by Mr. Rinku Basak, Assistant Professor & Coordinator, Dept. of EEE, AIUB.
