The Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) was formally established with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement and the holding of the Founding Conference on 28 July 1995 at Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. There were 48 University, Vice Chancellors and Rectors from 17 Countries who were signatories to the Constitution. Prof.Dr. Wichit Srisa-an, SUT Rector, was unanimously elected as AUAP Founding President. At Present, AUAP has 218 regular members from 19 countries and territories as well as five associate members consisting of regional organizations based in three countries. | |
The IAUP, founded in 1964 in Oxford, England, is an association of university chief executives from higher education institutions around the world. The primary purpose is to strengthen the international mission and quality of education of these institutions in an increasingly interdependent world, and to promote global awareness and competence as well as peace and international understanding through education
