On the 26th day of November 2020, an informative webinar titled ‘The New Normal of Teaching Online’ was held as a part of “Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series” at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The webinar was organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology in the honor of AIUB’s visionary Founder Chairman Dr. Anwarul Abedin who catalyzed substantial transformation in the educational sector of the country.

Prof. Dr Margaret Hamilton from the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia was the esteemed guest speaker for the occasion. She is known internationally for her work in mobility, user experience and computer science education including new technologies, problem-solving, employability and academic integrity. In her presentation, Prof Hamilton illustrated her knowledge and experience on online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic and assessing students online by ensuring academic integrity. She emphasized on the need for e-learning technology for tomorrow’s world. Prof. Hamilton also highlighted the diversification of online teaching around the world. During the question-answer session, Prof. Hamilton addressed numerous queries from the audience, elaborating on her valuable ideas.

Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice-Chancellor, AIUB delivered an inspirational welcome message. In her speech, Dr. Lamagna focused on the significance of e-learning technology in today’s world for re-shaping the Higher Education. After the keynote session, Associate Prof. Mashiour Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, AIUB concluded the event by delivering vote of thanks towards the distinguished speaker and handed her a digital certificate of appreciation. Dr. Dip Nandi, Director, Faculty of Science and Technology introduced the guest speaker and moderated the webinar. Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Dr Md Mahbub Chowdhury Mishu, Head, Computer Science were present along with the faculty members, officials and students of AIUB. 

With almost 100 participants on the Zoom platform, and over 3500 live viewers on AIUB’s official Facebook page, the webinar was indeed a success.
