On May 20, 2025 (Tuesday), Faculty of Engineering (FE) of American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) organized Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series titled “Recent Advances in Converter Control Techniques for Wind Energy Conversion System” commencing at 04:30 PM till 05:30 PM in the Multipurpose Hall, D-Building, AIUB. The session was interactive due to the presence of educators and many learners from myriad disciplines alike.

The esteemed speaker of the seminar was Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin (FIEEE, FEIC, Professor, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Lakehead University, Coordinator, Lakehead-Georgian program, Barrie, ON, Canada) and his arrival was warmly greeted by the audience present in the hall. The research talk was on the significance of creativity in the search of an adaptive non-linear controller design for ensuring significant reduction of power loss. In the beginning of his engaging speech, Dr. Uddin talked about the basics of Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) where he discussed the installed wind energy capacity throughout the years and a brief discussion about the major components of WECS. The latter half of his speech mainly dug deep on the development of loss mitigation algorithm and the state of output through simulations owing to incorporating this algorithm. The series was concluded by shining light on the comparison between the proposed controller and the conventional PI controller.

Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam (Vice Chancellor, AIUB) and Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) presented the honorable speaker with a token of gratitude from AIUB for sharing his valuable time and insightful speech on such a crucial topic. Besides, respective faculty members Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Professor, Associate Dean [FE], AIUB), Prof. Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Professor, Director [FE], AIUB), Mr. Nafiz Ahmed Chisty (Associate Professor, Head [Undergraduate Program], AIUB), and Prof. Dr. Nowshad Amin (Professor, Deputy Director [Dr. Anwarul Abedin Institute of Innovation], AIUB) graced the stage as well. To conclude, the seminar came to an end with a group photo of all the participants of the seminar to be kept as a form of memento.
