The Faculty of Engineering (FE), and Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), successfully organized a distinguished webinar of the Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series titled “Electrical Properties of Human Skin” on June 10, 2026 (Wednesday).
The webinar featured Dr. Ørjan Grøttem Martinsen, Professor, University of Oslo (UiO), Norway, as the distinguished speaker. Dr. Martinsen is an internationally renowned researcher specializing in electronics, instrumentation, and biomedical engineering, with particular expertise in the field of bioimpedance. The session brought together faculty members, researchers, students, and professionals interested in biomedical engineering and healthcare technologies. During his lecture, he provided an insightful overview of the electrical characteristics of human skin and their significance in modern biomedical applications.
The event commenced with inauguration remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, FE, AIUB, who welcomed the distinguished speaker and participants.
Following the presentation, an engaging question-and-answer session allowed participants to interact directly with Dr. Martinsen and gain deeper insights into emerging trends and research opportunities in bioimpedance and biomedical instrumentation.
The session concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, FE, AIUB, who expressed his sincere appreciation to the speaker for sharing his expertise and valuable experiences with the AIUB community.
As a token of gratitude, Prof. Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Director, FE, AIUB, and Dr. Humayra Ferdous, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Natural Science, AIUB, presented a virtual crest to the distinguished speaker in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the lecture series.
