The first lecture for summer 2008-2009 was delivered by a distinguished academician Prof. Wali I. Mondal, Ph.D. last Monday, 22 July 2009 in the Campus 1 Auditorium. Prof. Mondal is a Bangladeshi but has flourished his academic life in California, USA. He is the Former Dean of the School of Business and Management of the National University, San Deigo, California, USA. He is active in both professorial and research work in the field of Business particularly on entrepreneurship, micro entrepreneurship and economic development. The topic he discussed was a product of research entitled: Ethnolinguistic Fractionalization, Political Instability and Corruption. The research work covered 97 countries. In his presentation, he gave particular reference to the present situation in Bangladesh which caught the interest of the students and faculty.
Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam Asso. Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration delivered the welcome address while Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean , Faculty of Business Administration did the honor of introducing the speaker. After which, Prof. Dr. Mondal delivered his lecture. His lecture was briefed and concise. This was followed by a question and answer session with both the faculty and students took turns to ask question on the interesting and relevant topic. He was kind enough to yield to the questions. On behalf of the Vice Chancellor and the Management of the University, Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossian, Vice President Academics, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain and Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam hand over the Certificate of Appreciation and tokens to Prof. Mondal. Prof. Dr. T. Hossain finally expressed the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the university. The program was emceed by Dr. Silverine de Silva, English Faculty.
