The American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) proudly organized a thought-provoking discussion titled “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Our Hope” at its campus, bringing together students for an engaging session on building a sustainable global future.

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Mohammad Nurunnabi, a globally recognized academic and sustainability advocate. Dr. Nurunnabi currently serves as the Founding Director of the Center for Sustainability and Climate, Aide to the President, and Chair of Accounting at Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia. He is also an Academic Visitor at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, UK; Founder and President of Vision for Sustainable Africa (VISA); and Founding President & CEO – Global, Oxford Impact Group.

In his inspiring address, Professor Nurunnabi shared valuable insights into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting the collective responsibility of youth in advancing sustainable development. He emphasized the need for interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and civic engagement to address the pressing global challenges and foster a more equitable, resilient future. The interactive session was moderated by Prof. Dr. S.A.M. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor of AIUB, and featured active participation from students.

Following the discussion, a meeting was held between Ms. Shania Mahia Abedin, Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Group Captain (Retd.) Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar; and Dr. Mohammed Jashim Uddin, Professor and Convenor of Research and Publication at AIUB, with Professor Dr. Nurunnabi. The meeting explored potential collaborations in sustainability research, academic exchanges, and future initiatives aligned with the SDGs.

This event reaffirmed AIUB’s ongoing commitment to nurturing global citizens and promoting an academic environment that supports awareness, advocacy, and action towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
