Study tour to observe the production operations in the industry sector is a relevant and enrichment activity of the business education. It is a vital part of the curriculum of the department of Operations Management. On 5th November 2009, the Department of Operations Management undertook a study tour to the Global Beverage Company Limited at Gazipur. Students observed very closely the demand forecasting, production planning, production operation, supply chain, inventory control, quality control and assurance, energy and industrial resources optimization, and environment control. In addition, they observed the process of transforming of input to higher value added products. The management of the beverage company briefed the students and actively interacted with the officers who were giving the orientation. It was a good learning experience for the students to see the actual management operations. The department of operations management is giving thanks to the management of the Global Beverage Company limited for their all-out cooperation. The department of operations management is also giving thanks to the management of the University for providing full support and cooperation for the study tour. The education trip was under the guidance of Mr. Hasan Maksud Chowdhury, Mr. Mohammad Ali, Mr. Nizam Uddin and Mr. MM Obaidul Islam.
