Department of English Organizes Creative Writing Workshop at AIUB

A workshop on Creative Writing was held on March 10, 2016 at the Study Room, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Building in American International University – Bangladesh, organized by the Department of English. Twenty two participants from Holy Cross School & College, BAF Shaheen School & College, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School and American Standard International School attended the workshop. The poetry session was conducted by Theotonius Gomes, Lecturer, Department of English, AIUB and the short story writing was conducted by Ms. Sabrina B. Masud, a Fulbright Scholar and writer. The participants worked on themes of nostalgia, confessional, protest, and seasons of Bangladesh in poetry session, whereas, in the prose session formation and analysis of characters were practiced. Both the sessions provided time for the young writers to write on the themes or, characters that were introduced to them. The tutors appreciated writings from both the sessions and they were given feedback to improve their craft. At the end of the daylong workshop, certificates were distributed among the participants by Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences and M. Hamidul Haque, Head, Department of English.
