Department of Economics Organized Study Tour at Sonargaon and Panam City

Travelling has always been one of the easiest means of acquiring knowledge, not to mention, the most active methods of seeking it too. On to fulfil this educational quest, the AIUB Economics Department organised a study tour to the Golden city of Sonargaon and Panam City.Panam City is the earliest city of Sonargaon Thana in Narayanganj district, about 2.5 kilometres to the north of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Mograpara Point. Panam is only 0.5km away from Sonargaon Folk Art Museum.
The study tour was arranged keeping the students’ interests in mind in addition with the purpose of enlightening them about the country’s strong legacy. The locations chosen signified the socio-economic conditions that prospered during the British Colonial Period, not forgetting the architectural versatility that was dominant in that era.
Held on the 22nd of March 2014, accompanied by the faculty members namely: Mr. Rubayyat Hashmi, Mr. Rezwanul Hasan Rana, Ms. Farhana Rafiq, Ms. Godhuli Bhattacharya, Afsana Afsar Tuly, Saeba Ruslana Abedin, Ms. Nusrat Jahan and the Head of the department Md. Shawkat Ali himself, the tour was set to begin at 7:30 am.
After an enjoyable and informational trip, the buses arrived in the university campus at 4 pm, ending a long-awaited study tour in jovial spirits.
