CS Challengers are the Champion of APL 2014
The Final Match of AIUB Premier League (APL) T20 Cricket 2014 was held at the Gulshan Youth Club ground on April 09, 2014 at 10:30 am. Majestic Masters and CS Challengers played against each other in the final. CS Challengers defeated the Majestic Masters team by 36 runs and won this year’s AIUB Premier League 2014 T20 Cricket Championship. CS Challengers scored 191 in 20 overs losing 4 wickets. In chasing the target Majestic Masters scored 155 in 18.3 overs losing 10 wickets. For his excellent contribution in batting and bowling (48 runs & 3 wickets) Shovon of CS Challengers team was selected the Man of the Match in the Final. Adib of Majestic Masters got the Man of the Series for scoring 186 runs and 8 wickets in the whole tournament. Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean (Faculty of Business Administration) Dr. Charles Villanueva, and Vice President (Academics) Prof. Dr. Taffazzal Hossain witnessed the Final Match and handed over the Championship and Runner-up Trophies to the teams. Mr. Abdul Kader Nazmul, Director (BBA Program) and Coordinator (Office of Sports) were also present on the occasion. AIUB Faculty members, Officials and a large number of students were present in the prize distribution program. A total of 12 teams (including 1 faculty/officer team) from all the different departments of AIUB took part in the tournament under different names as follows : Group -A : Faculty Fusions, Majestic Masters, EEE Eagles; Group- B : BBA Bengals, BBA Blasters, Architecture Avaters; Group C : BBA Burners, CS Challengers, CS Cyclone; Group D : Electrifying EEE, BBA Beacons, EEE Electrons. As part of the tournament, there was a Grand Opening Ceremony of AIUB Premier League (APL) 2014 which was held at AIUB Auditorium in Campus-1 on March 25, 2014. The Opening Ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable Vice President (Academics) Prof. Dr. Taffazzal Hossain and Associate Dean (Faculty of Business Administration) Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed, Director (Office of Student Affairs) Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Director (BBA Program) and Coordinator (Office of Sports) Mr. A. K. Nazmul. Other Officials were also present at the opening ceremony besides university students and faculty members. Later the participating teams and others students together performed in a colorful cultural program. Finally the program ended with a big rally throughout the campuses of AIUB. In the opening match of APL 2014, BBA Burners played against CS Challengers in the Gulshan Youth Club ground on March 27, 2014. The APL 2014 was inaugurated by our honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna on March. 27, 2014. The media partners of APL 2014 were Ekattor TV, Radio Shadin and The Daily Observer. The beverage and Ice-Cream partners for APL 2014 were Clemon and Polar.
