Chemistry Teachers of AIUB participated in Bangladesh Chemical Congress 2008
31st Annual conference of Bangladesh Chemical Society- Bangladesh Chemical Congress 2008 was held from 30 Jan to 01 Feb 2009 at University of Dhaka, Dhaka. The theme lecture of this congress was, ‘Chemistry for Clean Water’. Clean potable water is a matter of life. The scarcity of potable water is becoming the single most technologically challenging problem of the 21st century because of human activities changing the environment and rendering significant amounts of water unfit for human use. Chemistry is central science to the understanding of this problem and its mitigation. The seminar participants were basically chemists, academics and students from Bangladesh and abroad. The theme lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Abul Hussam of the George Mason University, USA, the winner of the Grainger Challenge Gold Award for the innovation of SONO-Filter for removing arsenic from ground water. Nobel Laureate Prof. Yuan T. Lee, President, Academia Sinica of Taiwan also delivered a lecture. About 200 scientific papers were presented in the congress, including plenary lectures, invited lectures, oral and poster presentations, which cover all the major field of chemistry. Teachers of AIUB chemistry department participated in the 3-days long seminar at Teacher Student Centre (TSC) and Senate Bhaban of University of Dhaka. | ||
