CHARGE D’ AFFAIRES OF GERMAN EMBASSY IN BANGLADESH SPOKE AT AIUB
Dr. Ferdinand von Weyhe, the Honorable Charge d’ Affaires of the German Embassy in Bangladesh was the distinguished guest lecturer during the Dr. Anwarul Abedin Lecture Series held in Campus 1 auditorium of the university on 14 July 2014. Dr. Ferdinand has a sterling academic background and service in the military and foreign services. He is a lawyer, a historian and a doctorate in the history of Law. Dr. Ferdinand discussed the relationship of Bangladesh and Germany which covers various areas of development. Germany which is known for its strength in energy and power sector, garments, technology and others have been investing in these sectors and have provided substantial financial and technical support to the Bangladesh government. He underscored the interest of Bangladeshi students in seeking admission to German universities and a good number of these students are already studying both in the undergraduate and graduate programs. His discussion on this topic elicited interesting questions from the faculty and students which he responded enthusiastically.
In the welcome message of Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean Faculty of Business Administration, congratulated Dr. Ferdinand for having the German Team won the most coveted title World Cup 2014 after twenty years of waiting. The event was attended also by the Deans of FASS and FE, Asso. Dean of FBA, the Program Directors, Department Heads, key officials, faculty members and students. In grateful recognition of his invaluable service, the university presented him a crest and some souvenir items.
