On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the IEOM AIUB Student Chapter organized a Career Talk on “Opportunities Across Manufacturing and Supply Chain”, which brought together prominent business executives and potential students for an engaging exchange of professional knowledge and insights.

The event commenced with the opening speech by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.  He emphasized the importance of building strong connections between academia and industry to prepare students for the rapidly evolving professional landscape. Following this, the core section of the event started with the first keynote speaker Md. Habib Hasan, Lead Inter Market Supply Planning, Nestlé Bangladesh PLC. With over 14 years of experience in operations, supply chain, and manufacturing, Mr. Hasan discussed the significance of lean manufacturing, the functioning of supply chain operations within organizations, and the requirements for achieving operational excellence. Additionally, he emphasized the diverse skill set necessary for success in the rapidly evolving manufacturing and supply chain sectors.

The next keynote speaker, Sharmin Akhter Diba, Manufacturing Manager, GAP INC., took her session in a more student-centered approach, focusing on how to prepare for a successful career and address the frequently overlooked gap between academic life and the corporate environment. She highlighted the increasing importance of analytical thinking, digital fluency, and problem-solving abilities. Her session provided practical guidance to assist students in remaining competitive and ready for industry in today’s global job market. An interactive question and answer session ensued, enabling participants to engage thoroughly with the career talk that was presented.

After the engaging discussions, the keynote speakers were presented with the token of appreciation by Prof. Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, along with Dr. Md. Ehasanul Haque, Head of the Department, Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE) at AIUB, in recognition of their invaluable contributions. The event concluded with a group photograph that included the keynote speakers, faculty members, and participants.
