The Department of Management and HRM organized a Business Plan Exhibition on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017, at their Permanent Campus. The exhibition was an initiative undertaken by the course instructors from the Dept. of Management and HRM, currently teaching Entrepreneurship Development: Ms. Anisa Sultana, Assistant Professor, Ms. Nusrat Huq, Lecturer and Ms. Kishwar Mubin Chowdhury, Lecturer. The event serves to motivate aspiring entrepreneurs each semester by giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents to guest judges from various industries. The exhibits are judged in terms of product or service desirability, operations and marketing plan, financial projections and overall feasibility of the business ideas.
A total of twenty one innovative business ideas were shortlisted for the exhibition this semester. The qualifying ideas ranged from service oriented businesses designed to fill in observable gaps in particular markets, to technologically innovative solutions tailored to meet changing industry trends or offer solutions to existing problems. For the prospective businesses in the service sector, the students invested remarkable efforts to design scale models of the proposed facilities, factories and service routes. Needless to say, the businesses which focused on products, displayed very well-executed prototypes of their products.
The exhibition this semester was judged by Mr. Deepak Bhatia, CEO of Armana Group (Denitex) and Dr. Nisar Ahmed, MBA program director at AIUB. The judges provided their valuable feedback to each of the groups in order to encourage their entrepreneurial spirit and execute their ideas. The honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Carmen C Lamagna and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Charles C Villanueva inaugurated the exhibition and encouraged the participants by visiting each of their booths. Several members of the Faculty of Business Administration, along with BBA Program Director, Ms. Farheen Hassan, were also present at the exhibition.
In total four business ideas were declared winners after the judges deliberated and announced the scores. The ideas which stood out amongst others in terms of feasibility and innovation were: “Makeshift Garage (A Mobile Car-Parking System)”, “An event planning and supplies company”, “Fabric from Plastic Was
