A single donation of blood can change someone’s entire life. And we realized it the most when we bear witness to our loved one suffering and in need. We’ve all felt the fear that takes over as we do everything in pour power to move mountains and save a life. It’s never easy. Calling numerous people, various blood banks, and any other solution we can think of, in search of a pint of blood. Relating to that very distress, the AIUB Social Welfare Club – ‘Shomoy’, organizes blood donation campaigns every year, encouraging students, faculty, and officials alike, to support the initiative and contribute to the cause.
Together with the Quantum Foundation the AIUB Shomoy Club held their Blood Donation Campaign 2019 on the 4th of December 2019. Inaugurated by the honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, along with the Vice President of Academics, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva and the Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Manzur H. Khan, the program amassed over 160 donors from the university community. The program was conducted with medical staff of experienced doctors and nurses, with the support from the student volunteers of the club.
Donors were provided refreshments and issued lifetime membership cards to those interested in continuing their support for the cause. AIUB takes great pride in having its students taking up such socially responsible initiatives that not only serve the community but spread awareness, inspire involvement, and in times of such global unrest, keep humanity alive, not just today, but for the days to come.
