BBA Burners are the Champion of APL 2013

The Final Match of AIUB Premier League (APL) T20 Cricket 2013 was held at the Gulshan Youth Club ground on February 27, 2013 at 11:30 am. BBA Burners and Electrifying EEE played against each other in the final. BBA Burners defeated the Electrifying EEE team by Super Over and won this year’s AIUB Premier League 2013 T20 Cricket Championship. BBA Burners scored 152 in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. In chasing the target Electrifying EEE scored 152 in 20 overs losing 7 wickets.

For his excellent contribution in batting Shuvo of BBA Burners team was selected the Man of the Match in the Final. Arefin of Electrifying EEE got the Man of the Series for scoring 333 runs in the whole tournament.

Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Zita Lamagna and Founder and Vice President (Student Affairs) of AIUB Mrs. Nadia Anwar witnessed the Final Match and handed over the Championship and Runner-up Trophies to the teams. Mr. Md. Lutfar Rahman Director (Public Relations), Mr. Abdul Kader Nazmul, Director (BBA Program) and Coordinator (Office of Sports) were also present on the occasion. AIUB Faculty members, Officials and a large number of students were present in the prize distribution program.

A total of 12 teams (including 2 faculty/officer teams) from all the different departments of AIUB took part in the tournament under different names as follows : Group -A : BBA Beacons, BBA Blasters, EEE Eagles; Group- B : EEE Electrons, CS Challengers, Majestic Masters; Group C : BBA Bengals, Electrifying EEE, Architecture Avarice; Group D : BBA Burners, Faculty Falcons, Faculty Fusions.

As part of the tournament, there was a Grand Opening Ceremony of AIUB Premier League (APL) 2013 which was held at AIUB Auditorium in Campus-1 on February 10, 2013. The Opening Ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Founder and Treasurer and Vice President (Admin/ HRD) Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan and Founder & Vice President (Student Affairs) Mrs. Nadia Anwar. Among others Dr. Charles Villanueva, Dean (Faculty of Business Administration), Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain, Dean (Faculty of Engineering), Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Director (Office of Student Affairs), Mr. A. K. Nazmul, Director (BBA Program) and Coordinator (Office of Sports) and other Officials were also present at the opening ceremony besides university students and faculty members. Later the participating teams and others students together performed in a colorful cultural program. Finally the program ended with a big rally throughout the campuses of AIUB.
