Banking and Financial Institutions-Bangladesh Perspective
The Department of Finance at American International University-Bangladesh organized a seminar entitled “Banking and Financial Institutions-Bangladesh Perspective” on 8th April 2012. The main purpose of the seminar was to give our students a practical scenario of the condition of banks and other financial institutions in Bangladesh. The seminar was held to merge the gap for students between theory and the corporate world. The resource person of the seminar was Mr. Shoeb Hasan Khan, Unit Head, Medium Enterprise, SME Banking Division Standard Chartered Bank. Honorable Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Director of MBA program, Dr. Nisar Ahmed and many other faculty members were also present at the seminar.
The program started with an inspiring speech by the Dean of Faculty of Business Administration Dr. Charles C. Villanueva. The discussion started by the guest speaker giving an introduction on the financial institutions. In addition, the speaker explained about the financial system in Bangladesh. During his lecture the speaker highlighted how non-bank financial institutions are different from banks and the role of each category in the development of the financial system of a country. The speaker also shared his real life experience and tips on improving the chance to make a career in the Banking industry. The lecture ended with an enthusiastic lively question-answer session but the uniqueness of the session was that the speaker asked questions to the students and at the end gave away presents to those who answered correctly. Students were very happy to join the seminar and the resource person expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Department of Finance for the invitation and hospitality.
At the end of the seminar, the Director of MBA Program Dr. Nisar Ahmed delivered the vote of thanks and awarded the certificate of appreciation to the resource person. Dr. Md. Dulal Mia Department head of Finance presented the souvenir to the speaker on behalf of the university. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Bohi Shajahan, a faculty of the Department of Finance.
