On 16 October 2017, The Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), Bangladesh consisting of three members including one Washington Accord Mentor to BAETE, visited the American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) to evaluate its B.Sc. Engg. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) program for renewal of accreditation. The evaluation was conducted by Professor Dr. Anisul Haque as Chair of the Team, Mr. Syed Ahsan Habib as member and Professor Er. Kai Sang Lock as observer. The evaluation activities were comprehensive and detailed which covered the essential areas on curriculum and instructions, faculty, students, laboratories and facilities. The team also conducted interview with the faculty members, students and support staff. They visited laboratories, classrooms and ongoing classes. Aside from ocular visits and interviews, the team reviewed the voluminous documents on the university-wide systems and procedures, and the documents being used in operating the B.Sc. in EEE program. On hand to assist the Team’s evaluation activities were the Faculty of Engineering headed by Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Director (Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Head (Undergraduate Program, EEE), Dr. Md. Mohiuddin Uzzzal, Head (Graduate Program, EEE), Mr. Nafiz Ahmed Chisty (Senior Assistant Professor and Special Assistant, EEE), Mr. Ebad Zahir (Senior Assistant Professor and Special Assistant, EEE), Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain (Senior Assistant Professor, EEE and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs), Mr. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Senior Assistant Professor, EEE and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs). From AIUB-IQAC, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva (Director), Dr. ABM Rahmatullah (Additional Director), Mr. Md. Mamunur Rashid (Program Assessor), Mr. Md. Abdus Salam (Program Assessor), Mr. Pronoy Anthony Costa (Assistant QA Program Evaluator) and Mr. Atiur Rahman (Executive, Accounts & Finance) were present. Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Director, AIUB-IQAC and Overall Coordinator of Accreditation Program of AIUB, made themselves available from the start to the end of the evaluation process to provide technical assistance and serve as resource persons for some issues and concerns that need clarification and action. The final activity of the Team was a meeting with the key persons of Department of EEE and AIUB-IQAC to present and discuss areas of improvement. Relevant suggestions were taken into account for implementation. At this juncture, the management expressed its sincerest thanks and appreciation for the visit of the evaluation Team who really devoted their precious time and efforts under a hectic schedule to carry out the purpose of the visit. The IEB Evaluation Team has verbally congratulated the EEE Program, the management and all those who have shared their time and efforts in making the EEE program deserving to be accredited again for a period of three(3) years. Because of this reaccreditation, the EEE students will have a good stand especially when seeking employment or for higher studies. Again, CONGRATULATIONS EEE !
