The Essay Writing Competition 2010 is a project initiated by the ICRU of the AIUB-IFC Fund Project which focuses on promoting investment climate in Bangladesh. The theme of the Essay Writing Competition was then anchored on investment climate. The competition was open to all students of AIUB.
The competition was launched in Mid April 2010. The deadline for submission of essays was set on 30 April at first. Then it was extended till 15th of May. The participants were the currently enrolled students of AIUB. The essays were evaluated by expert panels from the Project team, AIUB and IFC using the following criteria: Text Organization and Content (45 %), Language features (45 %) and Acknowledgment and References (10 %). Two internal adjudication were conducted. In the first adjudication 30 essays were selected from a total of 50 essays. Then, it was further adjudicated to bring it down to 5 essays. These 5 essays were sent to IFC for the final adjudication and declaration of winners. The top 3 essays selected were as follows:
1st Prize Winner: Prospect of Islamic Finance in the Modern World, by : Khaled Mohammad Saifullah 2nd Prize Winner: To Legalize Black Money is to Legalize Crime, by : Masudul Haque 3rd Prize Winner: Black Money and the Flow, by : Manzila Tabassum Mun
The winners were awarded with certificates and a cash during a simple ceremony held in the Board Room, Admin Building. The honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Mr. Shihab Ansari Azhar and Mr. Adnan Shirajee from IFC Advisory Service and ICRU staffs were present during the ceremony. Their Essays are available with the ICRU office.
