A three day program, “Re-thinking Architectural Education & Practice in the 21st Century: Responding to Environmental, Humanitarian, Resilience and Social Issues” was arranged by Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) from 24-26 November, 2015. This year the event was followed by a Day-long Design Charrette [Design Competition] open for all architecture students throughout the country. The design task was to form a group of three students and work on the area of FLOOD, EARTHQUAKE and CYCLONE under the title of “FUTURISTIC IDEA FOR POST DISASTER SITUATION”. The jurors were renowned personalities of academia and professional field of architecture, namely Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, Ar. Ziaul Islam, Dr. Mohammad Faruk, Ar. A.B.M. Mahbubul Malik, Dr. Rumana Rashid.
Students from Department of Architecture, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), took part in the charrette. A group consisting of three students, Zannat Tabassum-Ul (AIUB), Ahmed Sadman Zaki (AIUB) and Md. Kamrul Hasan (SEU) was awarded the 2nd prize. Their project was highly commended by the jurors for their innovative approach and idea. We are proudly delighted for such an accomplishment of our students and wish them the very best for their future.
