ARCHITECTURE STUDENT WINS 1ST PRIZE IN DOT-AMBER STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION

Shimu Mustahina Azad- a 3rd year student from Architecture Department won 1st prize in Category B of DOT-Amber student design competition [3rd cycle] for ‘Design of a Highrise’. The prizes for Category A & C went to students from Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology (AUST) and Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) respectively.

The Winning Certificate along with Cash Award was handed over to the recipient on June 28, 2016 at the Department of Architecture at AIUB in the unveiling ceremony of 4th issue of “DOT” – a quarterly magazine of art & architecture in Bangladesh. The event was graced with the presence of Chief guest- renowned architect & educator Prof. Shamsul Wares, Chairman of Delvistaa Foundation Ar. Mustapha Khalid Palash, DOT Publisher Ar. Shazia Islam, Manager of Amber Group Mr. Akhtaruzzaman, Ar. Salahuddin Ahmed, Department Head Ar. Arefeen Ibrahim, respected teachers, students and other distinguished personalities. 

Speakers in the ceremony praised the initiative taken by DOT and AMBER group to arrange this Student Design Competition regularly and expressed the necessity of such opportunities for better exposure of potentials of the students. The role of DOT in documenting and promoting art & architecture of the country too was hailed. The unveiling and award giving ceremony was followed by iftar which was participated by the students, teachers and respected guests together.
