LAW STUDENTS VISITED MYMENSINGH JUDGE COURT

On 19 June 2019 the Department of Law, AIUB conducted a study tour at Mymensingh Judge Court for gathering and enhancing legal & practical knowledge on “Trial Procedure of Civil & Criminal Courts”. A group of 38 students with a faculty member of AIUB visited the court. The team was led by Mr. Md. Khalid Rahman (Assistant Professor, Department of Law, AIUB). The team departed from the Permanent campus at Kuril at 06:30 a.m. and reached the court around 10:30 a.m.             

Students were received by Mr. Masum Mia, Assistant Judge, Gafargaon Senior Assistant Judge Court. After the reception, the briefing session started. There were two sessions and the sessions were full of enthusiasms. In the first session, Mr. Md. Helal Uddin, the Honorable District and Sessions Judge, Mymensingh gave a brief on Civil suits and Criminal cases, filing procedure of suits & cases, trial procedure, jurisdiction, judgment, etc. After the briefing, Honorable District and Sessions Judge addressed students’ enquiries on different professional, legal and practical grounds. Later Mr. Md. Ikbal Hossen, Additional District and Sessions Judge (1st Court); Mr. Mohammad Nurul Amin Biplob, Additional District and Sessions Judge (2nd Court) and Mr. Moha. Hasanuzzaman, Additional District and Sessions Judge (4th Court) also gave the students a short lecture on the legal procedures.

After the first briefing, students were divided in to seven groups and visited different court rooms. Students learnt and experienced filing a case, trial session, examination and cross examination of witnesses, commission etc. in reality.

In the second session, respective judges of different courts briefed the students on the activities they have performed in the court room and gave a legal explanation. These two sessions and court room experience lasted for more than three hours. Later, students had permission a tour of the Mymensingh Judge Court complex with approval from the proper authority. The tour came to an end with a group photo with Mr. Masum Mia, Assistant Judge. Eventually, it was a very relevant, informative, valuable and successful tour for AIUB Law students.
